This painting was created on a 16" x 20" canvas with acrylic. The painting was created for a family who owned the black lab depicted. Flowers were used to represent the dog as if it were lying or walking through a field of flowers. The contrast between the darkness of the lab and the colorfulness of the flower field allows the viewer's line of sight to be directed at the dog as it is the main concept of the painting.
This is an 8" x 10" acrylic painting I created for a Knowledge and Technology in the Humanities course. The painting represents vehicles as a form of escape. This can represent the idea of taking a road trip, going for a drive to clear your head, or even driving through nature for a sense of peace. Ultimately, the goal of the piece is to represent an experience that resonates with the viewer, evoking emotions and memories that everyone can relate to in their own way.
I painted a Ford truck, a vehicle that is familiar to everyone. I chose this vehicle specifically because it is not anything too fancy, but something that feels like home. I wanted to paint woods around the vehicle rather than cornfields or mountains, because wherever you are from, everyone has seen wooded areas at some point. Wooded areas can also represent the journey of life, with the different paths the trees take you on. The woods can also represent personal transformation in a coming-of-age process. This representation goes hand in hand with portraying the truck in the painting for the feeling of escape.
